KLARA FENYO BAHCALL
This is the 41st year for Chamber Music for Strings at The Clearing! The class is organized around the string quartet. Five quartets, with rotating personnel, are scheduled each morning and afternoon, with coaching on an assigned repertoire. In addition, the entire group meets daily for a string orchestra session. Master classes will be held two or three evenings during the week, and an informal performance, open to the public, is scheduled for Friday evening. There will be ample time to form groups to read or rehearse additional music.
Those interested in this class will receive an application form that lists the repertoire and includes an information slip that MUST be returned before registrations can be confirmed. You will be expected to acquire and prepare your parts for the string quartets in advance of the class. Music for the string orchestra will be introduced and learned during the week.
Klara Fenyo Bahcall was born in Budapest, Hungary. She received her artist and teaching diploma from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. By audition, she was chosen to be a soloist for the Hungarian National Radio, where she made several recordings and frequently played live radio recitals. Klara won a two-year scholarship for postgraduate studies to the Banff Arts Centre in Canada, where she studied with world-class artists, including Menachem Pressler, Lorand Fenyves, Gyorgy Sebok and Sidney Harth. Until coming to the United States, Klara was concertmaster of the Hungarian National Opera. She was also soloist with the Philharmonia Management Office. Klara is currently an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she teaches violin, viola and chamber music. Klara has given recitals throughout Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and the United States.
