If you hunger to play and have fun with writing poetry as well as polishing your poetic skills, this is the class for you. You will explore different aspects of poetry and work through a variety of exercises while sharing the pleasure of experimenting with and shaping ideas as you spill words onto paper. Writing poetry is an essential act of the human heart. It nourishes the mind and helps us celebrate who we are and how we reach out to the world. Come and join the circle, and let yourself be amazed!Ellen Kort, Wisconsin's first poet laureate, has authored 13 books, including seven books of poetry and has traveled nationally and internationally as a poet, speaker and workshop facilitator. Her poetry is featured in the Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee, the Green Bay Botanical Gardens, the Fox River Mall in Appleton, Wisconsin, the Appleton Medical Center's Heart Institute and several state libraries. She teaches at an art charter school for high school students in Appleton, Wisconsin, does visiting poet residencies in schools and does poetry workshops for teachers, physicians and psychologists.
