Touch The Earth: Connect With Nature
August 15 - August 21, 2021
Embrace our Mother Earth and all that she has to offer in Door County’s natural landscapes. This class will explore our deep human connection with nature. The responsibility we have to Planet Earth as a human community is to understand, heal and protect all her inhabitants and wildlife. The class will examine the physical and spiritual connections we hold with water, plants and wildlife, and the potential for personal healing through this process. You will be encouraged to reinforce your connection to all living things and strengthen your commitment to be part of the healing and regeneration needed for our Earth home. Daily outdoor activities will be incorporated as you awaken your divine consciousness through music, movement, meditation, writing, laughter, lecture and discussion. Time will be spent in the classroom and in the field, so bring clothing suitable for rain or shine, including good walking shoes or boots. You might also want to bring writing materials, a walking stick and binoculars.
Everyone is entitled to a home where the sun, the stars, open fields, giant trees and smiling flowers are free to teach an undisturbed lesson of life. Jens Jensen
Deb experienced a deeper connection with nature during the class Walk on the Wild Side with Marion Moran in the mid-1980s. That was the beginning of Deb’s journey, and of many nature walks and retreats with Marion as a student and assistant. Marion was a dear friend and mentor to Deb. “She opened my heart and soul to all that is—seeing things not just through the eyes, but also through touch and through the ability to listen with the heart.” Deb completed her University of Illinois Master Naturalist Internship in May 2017 and enjoys exploring the Forest Preserves and natural areas in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. As a disciple of Marion’s teachings, Deb continues to share all that she has learned. In her free time, Deb enjoys walks in the woods with her dog Buddy, learning about geology, reading, cooking and traveling with her husband.
Deb will contact students prior to class.
Car pooling is needed for this class.
