Class #29

Creative Photoshop Elements

Bill Brown & Mark Southard

June 23 - June 29

instructor imageThis “hands on” class is for beginning and intermediate photographers who have Photoshop Elements versions 11 through 2019 on their computers. Bill and Mark will teach the creative side of Elements for those who are already familiar with the program and provide help for those who are just learning the basic features and want to get up to speed on the new features.

Bring some of your images on jump drives or portable hard drives. You’ll work on these images as the class progresses, learning how to improve them by adjusting the color and sharpness and how to correct problems like over and underexposure. Discussions will include understanding Photoshop Elements tools, filters, layers, resolution, file size and cropping. We will show creative examples and then you will apply those techniques on your images.

You can download Adobe Photoshop Elements 2019 from the adobe.com website and use it for 30 days without purchasing it. You will need basic computer skills with either a Mac or PC to take this class. Bring your mouse with you—it will help make the class easier. The new 2019 version has a nifty addition on making your own postcards, so be prepared to enjoy this one! Also new this year will be a half day on using your mobile phone as a camera. This will be easy and fun, and then you’ll be able to speak “photography” to your nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Mark Southard has conducted many classes and workshops as a creative use consultant for Polaroid and as a fine art black and white photographer and has been teaching Photoshop Elements since version 2.0. He’s been coming to The Clearing since 1984 and has served on The Clearing’s Board of Directors.

Bill Brown has owned his own photography business for over 40 years, is a past president of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association and teaches Photoshop and Photoshop Elements throughout Chicagoland. Bill is the founder and a past president of the Elgin Area Camera Club.

Mark and Bill will contact students prior to class.
