July 14 - July 20
Glass is an exciting, diverse and ever-changing medium. If you love the play of sunlight on glass, join this class for a week of learning and creating with this vibrant material.
In this class, youll learn cutting skills, the proper use of tools and how to kiln-fire your pieces. Nance will have a variety of projects from which to choose. Both first-time and returning students are welcome. There will be something new for everyone! Come with a sense of fun and adventure. You will leave with a new appreciation for this wonderful material and process, along with some great finished pieces!
This is a structured classeach project builds on the skills learned in the previous project. But there will be time at the end of the week for you to work on other projects, including your own designs.
Bring a ruler, pen or pencil, black Sharpie, silver Sharpie and a box to take your projects home. Also, you will be working with glass powders on a few projects, so bring a NIOSH 95 dust mask.
Nance Tucker has been working in glass for many years and has been concentrating on fused glass for over ten years. She is a juried regional artist with work in several galleries and teaches students at The Clearing and in her home studio. She studied with Nancy McCabe, who taught glass fusing at The Clearing for several years, Richard LaLond, Patty Denny and others. Nance says, Its such a joy to come to a place as wonderful as The Clearing, create something beautiful, and have an amazing timeall in one week!
Nance will contact students prior to class.
