Class #48

Watercolor Fresh & Loose: Paint With Confidence!

Jane Barnard

September 12 - September 18, 2021

instructor imageDo you need to loosen up with expressive brushwork and bolder composition and color? Do you need encouragement and more confidence in your own creativity? Do you need blocks of time to paint? Do you need specific how-to skills in basic watercolor techniques? If the answer to any or all of these is yes, then treat yourself to a creative week of personal art-making.

Mornings will begin with short inspirational readings to spark your creative spirit, followed by how-to demos in watercolor techniques. Topics include how to loosen up with expressive brushwork, how to do wet-in-wet and drybrush techniques, the beauty of transparency, how to mix clean, bold color and techniques for painting from your own photos. And there will be an added bonus: how to resurrect those so-called “dead paintings” by lifting and other techniques.

Afternoons are for your own quiet painting time, with one-on-one guidance from Jane. Each afternoon session will end with an inspirational or instructional DVD. Jane is skilled at uncovering and playing to your strengths, and she creates a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere. You'll also enjoy the interaction and camaraderie of kindred spirits—fellow artists trying to conquer this marvelous and maddening medium!

Throughout the week, you’ll be encouraged to explore, stretch and be more confident, with the help of a gentle and encouraging teacher.

A special welcome to returning students: Class instruction will include both new and tried-and-true watercolor demos. You’ll build on the creative skills you’ve been developing and gain more confidence with Jane’s guidance.
