Class #8

A Journaling Tool Kit

Nancy Akerly & Darlene Cole

May 17 - May 23

instructor imageKeeping a journal spurs creativity and offers powerful insights and opportunities for personal and professional growth. This class is an in-depth week that combines two elements of journaling.

With Nancy, you will explore your creative and artistic potential while making a variety of journals, ranging from a pocket-sized hand-bound journal to a hardcover personal journal from book board and fine papers.

Darlene will teach techniques and daily practices to help you reflect on and explore your unique visions. She will help you explore your own creative process as you bring your new hand-bound journal to life. Please bring some type of cushion or sit-upon for outside writing.

You will need a cutting mat, scissors, utility knife and bone folder, as well as colored pencils and a special pen or writing tool, if you have a favorite.

Darlene and Nancy loved creating their first class together in 2018 and are excited for year three! Come join us for a week of fun, growth, creativity and inspiration!

Nancy Akerly is a lifelong teacher, origamist, folk painter and paper artist, concentrating for the past ten-plus years on creating boxes, binding books and making marbled papers. She is passionate about sharing her skill and knowledge with others, inspiring them to expand their own creativity. Nancy lives in Sister Bay with her musician/storyteller husband, Lloyd Michalsen, and created Liberty Grove Paper Arts after 40 years as a public school teacher. She teaches and shows her work at numerous venues throughout the Midwest.

Darlene Cole has been keeping a journal for over 40 years. It was a respite for her thoughts and creativity during her 37 years as a teacher and counselor. Her classes in journal writing teach multiple ways to create a journal you will love. Darlene lives in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

Either Nancy or Darlene will contact students prior to class.
