Class #58

Hike, Bike & Paddle Door County

Kelly King

July 24 - July 30, 2022

instructor imageInvigorate your spirit and soak up the raw beauty of Door County’s world-class natural areas during this outdoor adventure week. Using various “modes” of transportation, you’ll explore the unique geology, vegetation and wildlife that comprise the various interdependent ecosystems of the Door Peninsula. You’ll stroll through sun-dappled forest cathedrals, ascend to grand vistas atop the Niagara Escarpment, bike along scenic country roads and kayak clear blue waters. At the beginning of the week, a special guest will provide an introduction to mindfulness and walking meditation. Evenings provide an opportunity to relax around a council ring fire.

Although the week is designed to be relaxing and leisurely, you should anticipate moderate levels of physical activity for about six hours each day. Transportation modes are easily adapted to individual desires. Weather on the Door Peninsula can be unpredictable, and the class will be held outdoors as much as possible. In addition to appropriate clothing and footwear, water bottle and daypack, consider bringing a camera, journal, flashlight and binoculars.

Bob Bultman is a northeast Wisconsin native who takes every chance he gets to work and play outside. Bob is a consulting naturalist who helps landowners maintain and enhance their native landscapes with his business, RestoreDoor EcoLogical Services. He serves on the Steering Committee of a handful of not-for-profit organizations, including the Forest Recovery Project and the Niagara Escarpment Resource Network. Bob lives in Baileys Harbor.

Kelly King was born and raised in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. She holds a bachelor of science degree in environmental education and outdoor recreation and has led outdoor adventure programs for the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay and the YMCA of Boston.
