2022 Summer Program
Watercolor Pure & Simple
September 25 - October 1, 2022
This is a light-hearted and casual class, a favorite for returning watercolorists and a great experience for those new to Judy. Always welcoming and friendly, this class will be something new with which to experiment, along with the basic “refresher” that everyone needs!
Working with inspired thought and experimental techniques is the focus of this class. Using your own reference material, you will paint subject matter of your choice. You’ll work with Judy, spending some time attempting to simplify compositions in order to leave room for mood creating elements—atmosphere, light and a sense of movement. The class will revisit the importance of placement of compositional elements and values and the role they play in creating the illusion of depth and distance. Find the colors that can live not only in the light, but also in the shadows of your work!
There will be individual instruction from Judy when you need it, but most of all, plenty of time to paint on your own. Constructive critiques, both group and private, are optional.
The Clearing, with its peaceful spirit, provides the perfect setting for a week of creativity and growth, granting you the space and time to refocus your energy. You are sure to go away with a sense of connectedness to a group of artists, and an experience you’ll want to repeat again and again!
Judy Barnewolt-Jones is an award-winning watercolorist whose works have been included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Her paintings, which she calls “affected representational,” are emotionally charged images, recognizable, yet implying deeper meaning. Judy’s writings accompany many of her works and provide an insightful look into the thought process behind her paintings. She has taught many workshops in both the Midwest and Florida.
