Introduction to Paper Marbling
September 23 & 24 | 9 - 4
Come prepared to roll up your sleeves and create color drenched papers and fabric! We will start with making a carrageenan bath, applying alum as a mordant on both paper and fabric and then use combs and rakes to create classic European Marbling patterns and the figural designs of Turkish Marbling. We will touch on basic color theory to create a color palette of your choice. Get a bit messy and enjoy two days of marbling fun, creating art suitable for framing, bookbinding, scrapbooking, cards, poetry, and cartonnage - the sky is the limit! A supply list will be sent prior to class and is available at www.theclearing.org.
