Landscape “Painting” with Fabric – Birches at Gills Rock
October 19 | 9 - 4
If you love fabrics and are looking for something different to do with them, this is the class for you! Or if you're looking to tap into another side of your creativity, you'll love this class! You will create your own 16"x20" version of Susan's original artwork, Birches at Gills Rock, using fabric and scissors as your canvas and paintbrush. You will receive a kit which includes a photo of the project, all the fabrics you need, as well as the adhesive product. In addition, you will be able to use Susan's art supplies to complete your project in class. Afterward, you can decide to quilt or frame your piece using Susan's instructions. A supply list will be sent prior to class and is available at www.theclearing.org.
Susan Hoffmann began exploring fiber arts approximately 20 years ago. Working within a very broad definition of fiber, she learned many different techniques through a variety of classes. She was introduced to a landscape quilting technique in 2008. During that class she realized her piece looked more like a watercolor painting than a quilt and deserved a frame instead of the quilting needle! She has become truly passionate about creating her unique kind of textile art and continues to perfect the design and construction processes in her home studio in Baileys Harbor, WI.
