Workshop Description

Class #37

Watercolor Magic - Step by Step

Kari Anderson

September 30 & October 1 | 9 - 4

Learn a lot about watercolor in two days with Door County artist Kari Anderson. Her relaxed, step-by-step approach to watercolor makes a lot of sense to people who are trying to learn how to control watercolors. We will explore many techniques: saving whites, creating stronger compositions, wet wash, various texture tricks, arrangement of the palette, masking techniques, shadows, glazing and more. We will work on several small and uncomplicated subjects in florals and in landscapes. There will be a lot of time for demonstrating and for individual attention. Open to all levels of experience. Basic drawing skills are helpful. A supply list will be sent prior to class and is available at www.theclearing.org.

Kari Anderson is a watercolorist who lives near Jacksonport, WI, and has taught watercolor to all ages for 30 years. She captures the many moods and seasons of Door County in her paintings with her unique, very free and loose style of painting. Kari graduated from Madison Area Technical College with a degree in Commercial Art. Her life has been filled with art, galleries, picture framing, art festivals, being a mom and illustrating and designing over 30 knitting pattern books for her mom, Carol Anderson. Kari has a very strong line of note cards of her own paintings, sold in The Clearing's bookstore.
