Class Details

Ecopsychology is a growing field in mental health. It is an interdisciplinary approach in which cosmology, psychology and ecology intersect in such a way that we become more aware and connected to the world around us. While having ancient roots in many Indigenous traditions around the world and their natural proclivity to be tuned into their relationships with nature, with current increases in dramatic environmental shifts, the model of how we have become disconnected from our world in many ways has become more and more significant. In this class, we will explore ways we can respectfully connect to the natural world in ways that are mutually beneficial to the planet and all who inhabit it. We will learn and experience nature-based activities that are designed to encourage sustainability, healthy living and caring intentional communities that can support positive relationships between us and the natural world. Expect to spend time outside walking, learn about composting and spiritual gardening, take a personal inventory of your energy footprint and make your own personal “medicine wheel.”

Daniel Huber has worked in mental health for over 50 years, he continues to find interest in expanding human consciousness, growing each day! He is a lifelong student and practitioner of Yoga, mindfulness meditation, biofeedback, Native American, indigenous and Eastern Studies. He integrates a wellness/self-care perspective into his teaching and therapeutic activities. Currently, his interests are focused on engaging nature and our higher consciousness in the healing process. Along with “Depth psychology/psycho-spiritual growth” helping individuals find the deeper meaning in life through meditation, spiritual development, and consciousness expansion. He has published numerous articles on parenting, child development and pathways to personal growth and fulfillment.
