Summer Program Scholarships
The Clearing, through the generosity of many donors, is pleased to be able to offer scholarship assistance in Summer Program classes! Scholarships are intended to make The Clearing’s educational programs available to a broad population of students. Clearing scholarships are funded by donations that are invested in endowment funds providing a permanent source of scholarship support.
General Scholarship Information:
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and/or other criteria, depending on the source of the funds. Below is a list of available scholarships, their amounts and criteria. To apply for a scholarship, please complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form by April 1. General Clearing Scholarships: $500
The Clearing’s General Scholarships may be used for any Summer Program class. (15 scholarships available)
Adeline & Jack Weiland Scholarship: $500
The Adeline & Jack Weiland Scholarships may be used for Chamber Music for Strings. (3 scholarships available)
Adrianne Paffrath Scholarship: $500
The Adrianne Paffrath Scholarships may be used for Recorder at The Clearing. (2 scholarships available)
Angela R Ebzery Scholarship: $250
The Angela R Ebzery Scholarship may be used for the Chamber Music for Strings class.
Future Generations Scholarships: $1000
Future Generations Scholarships may be used by students 35 years or younger for any Summer Program class. (3 scholarships available)
Joe Patrick Scholarship: $500
The Joe Patrick Scholarship may be used for any writing class.
Ken Byler Scholarship: $250
The Ken Byler Scholarship may be used for the Chamber Music for Strings class.
Mary Ann & John Crayton Scholarship: $500
The Mary Ann & John Crayton Scholarships may be used for nature-related classes. (3 scholarships available)
Norbert Blei Literary Scholarship: $500
The Norbert Blei Scholarship may be used for class #49 or #50: Writing Workshops with Al DeGenova.
Important Scholarship Dates:
April 1 – Scholarship Deadline: Scholarship applications must be submitted to The Clearing.
April 15 – Notification Date: Scholarship award recipients will be notified.
Scholarships provide partial coverage for tuition, housing (dormitory room) and meals. Additional material and/or shop fees are the responsibility of the student.
Recipients are eligible to receive one scholarship within a 24 month period.
Scholarships not awarded after the initial deadline will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and at the discretion of the scholarship committee.
