Typical Meal Schedule

Is there anything more important than meal times at The Clearing? We don't think so!

We have found that a more flexible meal schedule is appreciated by many of our guests. All meals are served in the Lodge.

*Meals For Commuters: If you are a commuter, your meal package includes all five noon meals (four dinners plus the Thursday picnic), plus Sunday and Friday supper.

COVID-19 RESPONSE Our typical Summer Program schedule has been slightly modified due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Below you will find those schedule modifications. If you have any questions regarding your week at The Clearing, please give us a call!

Shortened Week: Summer Program classes scheduled through June 11 will check-out on Friday after breakfast. Guests will have the option of staying an extra night.
Meals: Guests pick up their breakfasts and dinners outside the kitchen—breakfasts at 7:30 and dinners at noon. Suppers are box meals placed in the refrigerator in the Root Cellar by 2:00 each afternoon. A room number or name will be written on each container.
Sunday Evening Unless directed otherwise by your instructor, plan to meet at 7:00 on Sunday evening in your classroom for a class meeting. There will be no orientation.
Student Show-&-Tell: There will not be a gathering of all classes in one classroom for a student show-and-tell on the last night. Instead, individual classes may have their own show-and-tell in their classroom.

Breakfast:

All breakfasts will be served buffet style. Guests can go through the hot buffet line any time from 7:30 to 8:15 and sit wherever they like. For those who would like an earlier start to their day, there will be coffee, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and other items available 6:30 to 8:15. Those who have this “early breakfast” are still invited to go through the hot breakfast buffet line between 7:30 and 8:15.

Dinner (Lunch):

For safety reasons, but also to help simplify cleaning (Because of COVID-19, much more time is spent cleaning rooms than in the past.), we have removed certain items from the rooms. These include pillows, quilts, Afghans, extra blankets, clothes hangers, ice bucket, personal care products (shampoo, body wash and hand wash), the basket that covers the tissue box and the air freshener.

Given what has been removed from the rooms, we recommend that guests bring the following items:
• Pillow
• Soap
• Shampoo
• Clothes hangers

Guests might also want to bring the following items:
• Hand sanitizer
• Disinfectant wipes
• Extra blanket
• Flashlight
• Mosquito repellent
• Portable reading light
• Walking stick (if you plan to hike while you’re at The Clearing)
• Cooler for ice
• Also, since we only provide hot beverages (coffee and tea), please bring any other beverages you would like, such as water, juice and soda.

We will not assign roommates for those who wish to register for a dorm or for a double room. Those wishing to be in a dorm or double room must arrange their own roommate(s)—someone with whom they are comfortable rooming—or plan to register for a single room.

Please give our office a call if you have any questions about our accommodations. 920-854-4088

The mid-day meals on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will be served family style at 12:00 noon; please be punctual. The Thursday noon picnic will be served outside, weather permitting, but will be served inside if the weather does not permit.
