Discover the artist within you! If you love fabrics, or you love quilting and sewing, and are looking for something different to do, this is the class for you! Using Susan’s original art, ‘Summer Birches,’ as your inspiration, you will create a 14’x17′ ‘painting’ using fabric and scissors as your canvas and paintbrush. You will learn elements of design and composition, as well as artistic techniques to create your own work of art. When you are finished, you may choose to frame or quilt your piece after you get home (directions supplied). This class is suitable for everyone – no experience necessary – just a desire to tap into another side of your creativity.

Supply List:

* 4″ embroidery scissors with a 1.5″ – 2″ blade ( blade must be VERY sharp, right to the tip)

* Large sewing scissors

* Paper and pen for note taking

* Mobile phone or other to take photos

* Your best smile, because we’re going to have fun!

In 1999, Susan began exploring fiber and textile techniques. She took a wide variety of classes over the ensuing years…she didn’t find anything she was truly passionate about until she was introduced to a landscape quilting technique in 2008. She loved the idea she could use fabrics to create a ‘painting.’ Over the last 16 years, Susan has explored different ways to perfect the technique that allows her to frame her work under glass instead of sewing it with a needle! Susan has won several awards for her art; her work has been included in many invitational and juried exhibits. She is represented by Fine Line Designs Gallery in Door County, Wisconsin. Her work is owned by patrons throughout the United States. In addition, her piece, ‘Fire in the Sky,’ is featured in the art book, ‘Color Passions: The Best of Mixed Media,’ published by Northlight Books. Susan lives in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin
