Class Details
So, you’re thinking about learning how to carve? Well, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss! During this relaxed workshop, Erik will introduce you to wood carving basics including wood properties, the proper use of carving tools and how to keep tools sharp. Painting and finishing techniques are also discussed. Don’t worry. Erik won’t talk too long. He’s a big believer in “learning by doing” and will get you carving your own piece quickly. By the end of class, you will have a couple of finished carvings to showcase on your mantel! Projects will include a variety of figures carved in the Scandinavian flat-plane style and using just a carving knife. This class does require a modest amount of dexterity and hand strength. Bring a straight edged, 1 ½” – 2” carving knife and protective carving gloves. Supplies can also be purchased from Erik at class.
