2022 Summer Program

Class #26

How To Create Great Images Using Adobe Photoshop Elements

Mark Southard & Bill Brown

June 5 - June 11, 2022

instructor imageOver two years have gone by since this class was last taught, and Photoshop Elements has matured quite a bit during that time. Bill and Mark will be using Elements 2022, but older versions are fine. Photoshop Elements 2022 provides quick and easy access to key photo-fixing and creative tools.

This “hands-on” class is for beginning, intermediate and expert photographers who have Photoshop Elements versions 16 through 2022 on their computers. Bill and Mark will teach the creative side of Elements for those who are already familiar with the program and provide help for those who are just learning the basic features and want to get up-to-speed on the new features. You’ll learn how to create postcards and composites, artistic effects, how to eliminate distractions and many more tricks of the trade.

Bring your camera and have your images on a jump drive or portable hard drive. You’ll work on these images as the class progresses, learning how to improve them by adjusting the color and sharpness and how to correct problems like over and underexposure. Discussions will include understanding Photoshop Elements tools, filters, layers, resolution, file size and cropping. Creative examples will be shown. Then you’ll apply those techniques to your images.

You can download a trial version of Photoshop Elements 2022 from www.adobe.com. This gives you 30 days of full access to the app, enabling you to put it though its photo-fixing paces. You will need basic computer skills with either a Mac or PC to take this class. Bring your mouse with you—it will help make the class easier.

Note: You must be familiar with your computer and your digital camera in order to take this class.

Mark Southard has conducted many classes and workshops as a creative use consultant for Polaroid and as a fine art black and white photographer and has been teaching Photoshop Elements since version 2.0. He’s been coming to The Clearing since 1984 and has served on The Clearing’s Board of Directors.

Bill Brown has owned his own photography business for over 40 years, is a past president of the Chicago Area Camera Clubs Association and teaches Photoshop and Photoshop Elements throughout Chicagoland. Bill is also the founder and a past president of the Elgin Area Camera Club.
