Shamanism is an ancient form of healing that has been practiced around the globe for centuries. It is a very powerful tool of self-healing and could be seen as a way of maintaining personal wellness. Once you learn the basic journey techniques, you are free to explore your own connection with the spirits in the parallel universe, and do not have to rely on another person for your own well-being. In fact, this is preferred in that the information you receive from your spirit guides is truly a way to access your own” inner shaman” so that you receive information that is unaffected by another person’s thoughts,ego, or biases.

This class is divided into two main sections. In part one, we will start to explore the essential foundations of Shamanism, such as the parallel universes, methods of traveling to the parallel universes, and mechanisms involved in Shamanic healing. In part two, we will sample four methods of traveling: drumming journeys, trance postures, Andean Mysticism and Whistling Vessels. Four journeys from each method will be presented for your experiential exploration. Room will also be provided for discussion and writing of your journeys. Writing down your travels is an important aspect of Shamanic work. Each journey is essentially a “prescription” for healing your problems and growing in mind, body and spirit.
