Spring is prime time for exploring Door County’s extraordinary natural beauty. Join Naturalist guide Paul Regnier as you experience well-known and not so well-known natural areas throughout the County.
Enjoy the rich diversity and variety of Door County’s habitats, including sugar maple/beech woodlands, remnant boreal forests, a variety of wetlands, rocky and sandy beaches, and the Niagara Escarpment. Learn identification and natural history of flowering and non-flowering plants, migrating and local birds, and terrestrial animals in these habitats. You’ll gain a new appreciation for the unique geology and natural history that makes Door County so fascinating. Easy to moderate level hiking is scheduled each day. Some hikes include areas of uneven or difficult terrain, (off the beaten path…) so good footwear is a must. Rain gear is also helpful. Most of the class time is spent outdoors, rain or shine. A daypack, binoculars, camera, refillable water bottle, walking stick, field guides and sense of adventure are also useful. As a group, we will coordinate carpooling to our daily destinations. Paul will contact students prior to class.
