Recorder Ensemble is a longtime Clearing tradition. Our focus is on group playing with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. During the day we explore musical challenges in a wide range of styles. Evening sessions feature lighter fare, ranging from bass ensembles to blues. Recorder Week is about discovery, wonder, and making music together. There are opportunities for ensembles, large and small, and for delighting in music, old and new.

To participate fully in this class, you should have at least intermediate skills on a C or F recorder. For the evening sessions, you are encouraged to bring pieces from your music library and multiple copies of at least one piece to share. While Pat will furnish most of the week’s music, you will need to purchase copies of the required repertoire prior to the class. The music list can be obtained from The Clearing after April 15th. The total music cost is approximately $40. For special or hard-to-find pieces, a vendor will be included with the repertoire list. Pat will contact all students prior to June 1^st, sending the assigned instrumentation for the week and individual parts for ensemble playing. Pat will contact students prior to class.

Pat Badger is the advisor for Arts and Equity at The Prairie School in Racine, Wisconsin, the Racine Symphony’s principal trumpet and a diversity consultant for the National SEED Project on Inclusive Curriculum. A longtime Clearing teacher, she has received The Clearing White Cedar award for excellence in teaching.
