Class Details
If you have wanted to try glass fusing, but didn’t know how to get started, or if it would be your muse, this class is for you! Projects are designed to learn proper tool use, basics of glass movement, and step from simple to more complicated as the week progresses. There is some chemistry we will go over, but don’t worry, it is not scary or difficult. This class is for the curious NEWBIE. Repeat students are welcomed, but they will be required to do the class projects, no exceptions. Student tools are provided by the instructor, so you can get a wonderful introduction to glass fusing before making a big investment. Nance will contact students prior to class.
Nance has been working in glass for over 30 years, focusing on fusing for 25 years. Trained in Graphic Design, she worked in a variety of interesting jobs to help support her art habit and pay bills. Nance first came to the Clearing in the early 1980s with her mom, Ellen Eads, and fell in love with the wonderful creative spirit that flows from this place. After several classes and bumps in her personal path, she became a “Clearing Regular”. When the current fusing teacher decided to retire (at the age of 83), Nance was able to step in and has been teaching since. Nance is a regionally recognized artist and enjoys art and music. A recent “Clearing Hawthorn Award” recipient for her dedication to The Clearing, she loves The Clearing’s beauty and spirit.
