Students are invited to take repurposing to a new artistic level by weaving purses with scrap fabrics and recycled t­shirts. During the class we will concentrate on learning methods for preparing and joining rag strips; designing various styles of purses; exploring weaving techniques such as twisted weft, clasped weft, loopers, and more; as well as discovering ways to finish the purses. Beginning students will learn how to set up a loom but will also have the option of working on pre-warped 4-harness looms and Intermediate students will enjoy exploring techniques such as Log Cabin Weave and Twill variations. Looms will be available for rent from The Clearing. JoEl will contact students prior to class.

JoEl Levy LoGiudice loves to share her passion for weaving with her students. She has taught weaving at Florida Community College, the Appalachian Center for Craft, Tennessee Technological University, Vanderbilt University, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, the John C. Campbell Folk School and The Clearing. JoEl enjoys exploring new ideas and techniques for weaving.
