Whether you want to learn to knit or want to advance your knitting skills, this class will get you there. You will learn all the fundamentals of knitting – the basic stitches, tools, and vocabulary – and work on knitting an accessory of your choice. You will also get the chance to try out different fibers and tools that knitters use. This comprehensive course will set you up with everything you need to become a lifelong knitter.

We will cover multiple ways of casting on, knitting, purling, combining knit and purl stitches for different textures, binding off, fixing simple knitting mistakes, how to read a knitting pattern,  and care of your handknit items

Project Options are based on your experience level. Complete beginners can choose a scarf or cowl (patterns provided). Beyond beginners can try a hat, more advanced cowl, or a shawl. Advanced beginner/intermediate can choose a cowl, shawl, socks, mittens, or even get started on a sweater. It’s your choice! Whitney will contact students prior to class.

Whitney Gross has been an avid knitter for nearly 2 decades and brought that love of knitting when she opened Knit Whit’s Yarn & Crafts in Baileys Harbor, WI in 2019. As a lifelong learner, there is nothing more satisfying than knitting because there is always something new to learn. Whitney has been sharing and teaching the craft of knitting to adults and children for over a decade. It is her greatest thrill to introduce knitting to beginners and watch them get as excited as she does as they pick up their needles and advance their skills.
